Maria Roiz

You can call me Batgirl, for my mad skills on the Obstacle Course, and my Love of Batman.  I am a country girl, plucked out of the mountains of New Jersey.  I may have an attitude, but I'm a fun, fit chick who knows how to have fun.  I like to hunt, fish, hike, ride horses and dirt bikes.  All of these things kept me outside growing up.  When I found OCR though, I traded in my pole, saddle and motor for some All Terrain shoes and hit the mud harder than anything before.  I kept the guns though.

In 2011, at a weight of 220 pounds, I was a depressed and a little lost.  Twinkies had become my best friend.  OCR helped me kick that habit and I put my foot down...on a treadmill.  One step at a time, I turned myself around, until I was out squating the boys on the squat rack.

Today, I am an Obstacle Course Racing Beast!  I use my turn around story to motivate others that want to do the same and love helping others obtain their goals.  The key for me is to always stay motivated and never give up.  Results don't happen overnight, but they do come if you have patience and keep going.

I am a certified ASFA Group Fitness/Boot Camp instructor.
